How to Prepare:

The first step is to take a moment and write down a few of the issues that have been troubling you and what you'd like to accomplish. Write down any questions you may have for your practitioner in your initial consultation.

When you call the practice, we will match you with a therapist that best fits your needs. We will answer any questions you have on billing and fees.

What to Expect:

When matched with a therapist, you can choose to have a 15 minute complimentary consultation or to schedule your initial appointment.

You will be sent initial paperwork through our client portal system: Jane.

We ask that you complete the paperwork prior to your first session. Please read these documents carefully as they include the limitations of confidentiality, the counseling process, and cancellation and billing policies.

Through Jane, you can also schedule, cancel, and reschedule sessions. You can also add yourself to the waitlist for specific time slots.

The first counseling session is unique. It will likely resemble an interview where your therapist asks questions aimed at gathering a  background, family history, an understanding of the events and emotions that led you to seek counseling, and assist you in defining goals for counseling.  These goals will be revisited throughout the process to keep track of progress.

We suggest clients schedule their next appointment before leaving, as our therapists are in high demand and are often booked. If there are a particular day and time that is best for you, talk with your therapist about setting up a standing appointment. Remember, we require 24 hours notice for cancellations.

Results:

The amount of sessions depends on the complexity and amount of goals you are coming in with.

Lasting change does not take place only during that one hour a week in session. Real change happens when you take what you are discovering in session and apply it to your everyday life. The most important variable in the success of counseling is your commitment to change and the work you do in between sessions.

We encourage our clients to keep a journal and be mindful throughout the week in between sessions to notice the same changes that are occurring and to come into session with an idea of what they'd like to work on for the day.
